Though there are many species of ants found in Calgary, cornfield ants, also known as moisture ants, are the most common species found in residential homes and commercial structures. The black carpenter ant remains the largest and the most destructive. The insects may gain entrance into a building virtually anywhere through small cracks or openings.
In addition to invading homes in search of food and heat, the small rodents also seek indoor shelter to escape becoming preyed upon by cats, owls or skunks. They have an innate ability to enter a structure through holes measuring no more than four millimetres in diameter, which is about the width of a common pencil.
Bees and wasps make their nests virtually anywhere from below the ground to the rafters of an attic. In an effort to avoid unpleasant climate conditions, the insects might even seek refuge between walls. Besides bee species, Calgary has many of wasp species that often include hornets, mud daubers, paper wasps and yellow jackets.

I texted and heard back from them immediately with the cost and service guarantee quote right away. They came within 2 hours and Dave was so polite, professional, took the time to explain things without judgement. Closed off the hole where the mice were finding their way in but gave the reassurance that if we still see them around he would be back for free to help. I would 100% recommend this company.

Dave was awesome!!! He came to do a follow up visit today, after discovering that our mice problem had expanded from our basement to our kitchen upstairs. He pulled our fridge out to place bait where we had seen a mouse. Dave was extremely helpful and thorough. He inspected outdoors in -17 degrees C and indoors. Dave sifted through our clustered garage, moved 4 sets of car tires and other heavy junk and discovered how and where the mice were entering. Dave then sealed off the areas with a double layer of protection and gave us lots of great info and tips about prevention, cleaning and safety. I

Dave was amazing! very knowledgeable and personable. We had another company come in before, they were horrible with communication, didn't look for entry points, or seal any entries. Dave came in, found all the potential entries, closed them off and put traps in much better locations than the previous company. Thank you!!

Our experience was exceptional. I did not rate Dave (our saviour) on time only because he wasn't even supposed to do any work for us. He happened to be a neighbors when we discovered a wasp issue at my Dad's house. Fate gifted us a pest control expert in full protective gear. Dave graciously came over after he finished his assigned job. He was incredibly professional and efficient. He gave me piece of mind that my Dad was going to be safe around his house and that my Dad wouldn't try to take care of this himself (he's 96!). Thanks for the spontaneous support...on a Saturday, no less!

This was my first time using ZAP Pest Control. Now I know why they have so many 5-star ratings. What a great experience! I filled out a form online (after hours) and was contacted first thing the next day — the lady was professional and got right to the issue at hand. Joel was sent out that day! What a pleasant surprise. Joel was on time and quickly dealt with the two hives. He was friendly, personable and knowledgeable. There is a guarantee so I feel good about that as well. Without a doubt, I will call ZAP again should I need their help again.

We had a difficult to handle wasp nest somewhere in the soffit of the house. Dave with ZAP was great. He was very friendly and took the time to take us through the process and even discussed with our neighbours. He came back the 2nd time for another treatment to ensure the nest was inactive. Wasp issue was resolved in a timely fashion. Would definitely use ZAP again.

Great experience with ZAP for helping to deal with some ants that were taking over. I had used them previously several years ago as well with good results. Good communication from the company and their technician (Dave) showed up exactly on time was very friendly and knowledgable. After 1 day the ants are almost entirely gone. They mentioned they would also be happy to return to spray again if we notice ants returning within 100 days. Overall great experience and will continue to use in the future.
