In 1956 John Arevian bought Avenue Hardware in Westmount and for nearly 20 years ran a well-known neighbourhood hardware store. In 1975 Avenue Hardware became Arevco Lighting. In the early years he specialized in sourcing the best quality light bulbs, particularly low voltage halogen as well as a selection of imported quality light fixtures.

He expanded his offering with an in-store line of fixtures fabricated with quality brass and bronze parts imported from Italy. In 2001 Hera Arevian opened Arevco Lighting Ottawa as a small lighting boutique in trendy Westboro. In 2012 the store expanded to a new 3000 sq. Arevco sells only high quality brands at very competitive prices.

Even though I live in Vancouver, BC, everything went so smoothly with my first order of Hubbardton Forge lights so I placed two more orders with them. Bought lighting fixtures for my entire house (both indoor and outdoor) from Arevco. I cannot say enough good things about Hera and Faye. Professional, helpful, considerate and very knowledgeable.

Suspension
Report
Whether dramatic or understated, suspension lighting is a key element to consider in your space decorating. It can provide a foundation of fill light for a nice diffuse glow or a focused down lighting to accent a task area or cozy reading nook. Try Tech Lighting or LBL Lighting for a contemporary take, or Hubbardton Forge for traditional/transitional interpretations.
Bathroom
Report
Bathroom lighting needs particularly careful consideration. Two (or more) wall mounted fixtures can be ideal as they light your face from the front and sides to eliminate shadows. Larger rooms often require multiple pot lights or a flush mount ceiling fixture for adequate ambient lighting. Don't be put off by LEDs in the bathroom - modern versions have become very flattering.
Recessed Lighting
Report
Recessed lighting is the most common form of architectural lighting found in residences today. Use recessed lighting to illuminate an entire room, accent chosen features within the room, highlight textured surfaces for visual drama, and/or direct functional light toward specific areas where necessary.
