Sub-Arctic Geomatics is a northern land surveying firm located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and with a seasonal field office in Iqaluit, Nunavut. In 2018, Sub-Arctic Surveys joined with Challenger Geomatics, another experienced and well-established northern firm, to become surveyor of choice for projects across the Canadian North.
Combined, we maintain a permanent presence across many northern communities and employ members of local communities whenever possible. Challenger has developed local partnerships with First Nations across the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut to support the success of both our clients and indigenous partners.

Since our inception in 1992 by Bruce Hewlko, Sub-Arctic has prepared approximately 33% of the Plans of Survey registered in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. In March of 2018, Sub-Arctic joined with Challenger Geomatics, another experienced and well-established northern firm, to become surveyor of choice for projects across the Canadian North.

Projects and Expertise

Sub-Arctic Surveys Ltd. was involved from the start with Yellowknife's Grace Lake subdivision. We performed the original site survey, then subdivided the area into the current residential development. Sub-Arctic Surveys Ltd. produced Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) and Airport Operations Manual (AOM) drawings for the Trout Lake Airport in 2014.
